X-Men Portraits Series - Storm

Continuing my X-Men Portrait series, I have painted the weather goddess herself; Storm aka Ororo Munroe!

As I did with Emma Frost, I wanted to create my own refresh and interpretation of the established character's design and to overall give my own refresh to one of my favourite characters in all of Marvel.

I really enjoyed exploring in this design how to incorporate African inspired jewellery into her design as I feel that aspect is something that hasn't been explored much before in her comic history. I also had a lot of fun (and quite the inspired idea!) of Storm embracing more of what would more likely be her natural hair in her design and in doing so her hair is more reminiscent of a cloud, which is reflective of her weather powers!

Overall I had so much fun conceptualising how i could reinvigorate Storm's design through my eyes (which I hope to add further sketches of to this in the future).
